This Gift for Peace can provide lifesaving disaster simulation training for vulnerable communities living with a disability, helping them identify the risks they face, the resources they need, and what to do when a disaster strikes so lives can be saved.
In Indonesia, families like Zain’s (pictured) live through recurring earthquakes and floods due to climate change which a have traumatic impact on their lives. Zain also lives with a disability, which makes surviving a disaster even more challenging.
“That is one thing that is great about this program. We are more ready and know the evacuation process.” – Zain
By being consulted during the disaster preparedness planning, Zain was able to highlight the specific resources he needed. He was also able to advocate for others facing similar challenges, making sure people with disabilities aren’t left behind.
